About

Soren Iverson’s practice is defined by quantity. Heavily inspired by John Cage's reminder that “The only rule is work”,  Iverson’s studio is akin to a factory that constantly rekindles its own furnace. His manic need to create reinforces his personal ethos that the process is just as important as the end result. A finished work often contains multiple layers of drawing over months or even years, as well as abandoned segments of other drawings collaged together and given new life. Iverson prefers drawing media over paints, which more freely lend themselves to linework and spontaneous mark making.

Aesthetically, Iverson’s subject matter is influenced by comics, fauvism, and the age-old play between figuration and abstraction. Ultimately, many pieces attempt to answer the question: can a drawing devoid of a figure look like an old friend?
